Grupo Siro renews its support to the Spanish Paralympic Team for the Tokyo 2020 Games
Grupo Siro will continue to support the Spanish Paralympic Team in its race towards the Tokyo 2020 Games. This has become effective with the signing of the renewal agreement between both parties that took place this Friday at the headquarters of the Superior Sports Council (CSD).
The president of Grupo Siro, Juan Manuel González Serna, and the president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee (CPE), Miguel Carballeda, in the presence of the general director of Sports of the CSD, Mariano Soriano, have renewed this agreement by which Grupo Siro continues to support athletes in their preparation for the 2020 Paralympic Games, as it did in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Gonzalez Serna wanted to emphasize the work of athletes and the values they represent: “Are you aware that you have worn 651 medals since Tel Aviv 1968? And all this is the result of your efforts. That’s why thanking you is not much. You are an example of effort, perseverance and overcoming. We at Grupo Siro strive to achieve an inclusive society and for equal opportunities to be real. They are the foundations of sustainable social commitment. With our small support, what we want is to support the values of effort, improvement and teamwork, which are the pillars of our company. And this encourages us to continue supporting you.
Miguel Carballeda did something retrospective to value the support of companies such as Grupo Siro. “A few years ago we were not clear about our future. But we have been growing, meeting people who run big companies who decided to share our journey and our illusion. A bet of company people committed to social responsibility. Today we sign with Grupo Siro, which is an example of all this, and that, not only bets on sport, which has been doing for a long time, but on people with disabilities,” said the president of the CPE.
The ceremony closed with Mariano Soriano’s speech. The director of Sports of the CSD wanted to make it clear that “this government team has been publicly expressing since the beginning its intentions to support Paralympic sport. We are going to bet for it, but we alone cannot, so it is necessary the support of companies such as Grupo Siro and many others, without which would not be possible all the successes that our athletes are carrying out so brilliantly. But not only do we want to remain in high competition sport, but we also want there to be equal access to sport for people of all abilities. And we are going to do that from the bottom up. And this would not be possible without the help of companies either. That’s why we are very grateful for the support of Grupo Siro and the other entities that are committed to it”.
An outstanding group of athletes wanted to thank with their presence the support of Grupo Siro. The athletes, and recent European champions, Gerard Descarrega and Lorenzo Albaladejo, and the swimmers Ariadna Edo, Iván Salguero and María Delgado, medalists in the last European Championships in Dublin, were present in an act whose conduction was in charge of the ‘Paralympic trainers’ Marta Gómez Battelli and Enrique Floriano.
The support of Grupo Siro provides these athletes with the necessary means to have scholarships and aid for training, to attend a greater number of concentrations and international competitions or to have technicians, coaches, support personnel, specific sports material or medical services, among others. All this with the aim of obtaining the best possible results at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and keeping Spain among the elite of disabled sports.
