Cerealto and La Salle Managua launch a pioneering FP Dual integration project in Castilla y León

Cerealto, the first company in Castilla y León to incorporate a visually impaired student from the La Salle Managua educational centre to do an internship in FP Dual.

This pioneering DUAL vocational training project allows students with disabilities at the La Salle Managua school to carry out internships and a parallel training pathway to develop their professional skills in a comprehensive manner.

In this academic year, La Salle Managua and Cerealto have wanted to go one step further and have created a specific programme for these students. Its implementation has taken place for the first time in one of Cerealto's work centres in Venta de Baños with the training of a student with a recognised visual disability of 79%.

The student, who has spent the last few months working in the facilities with a flexible and adapted itinerary, has been able to learn first-hand about the day-to-day life of one of the main food companies in the region.

Cerealto's commitment to this pioneering project is in addition to the Company's efforts to integrate people with different abilities. Cerealto has its own Special Employment Centre and is committed to diversity: more than 12% of its staff are people from groups at risk of social exclusion and with different abilities.

Within this DUAL VET modality, the student carries out a total of at least 500 hours of practical training, which involves getting to know and working in the company for a minimum of 17 weeks, full time. During this period, the student is registered with the social security and receives a financial grant from the company of at least 50% of the minimum wage.

The project has also been supervised by the Directorate General for Vocational Education and Training and the technical advice of the DUAL VET area of the FSIE trade union.

La Salle Managua has been carrying out DUAL VET projects for four years now and was also a pioneer at the time in opting for this modality for BASIC VET teaching, providing an opportunity for integration of the different professional realities.
